Carriage Horses Need Relief 
Those who think that by fixing the problems of poor stable and watering station conditions, etc. for the NYC carriage horses, the industry will then be humane, couldn¹t be more wrong and are kidding themselves. The most important issues that can¹t be fixed are that the horses are forced to work in heavy traffic, breathing in toxic fumes, surrounded by loud, frightening noises, which have been the reasons for almost all of the accidents and deaths to the horses on the streets. They will continue to be forced to work long days, nine hours a day by law, during which time they can¹t even scratch an itch or get relief from working between the shafts of their carriages. These are the crucial reasons why the horses shouldn¹t be indentured. It¹s time for the public and the politicians to accept the truth, end the carriage horse trade, and save these beautiful animals from such a cruel and inhumane plight. They should also acknowledge and defer to the decision of the major animal groups that support a full ban.
